Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must satisfy all of the following criteria to be considered for the selection process.

Citizenship

Must be a Nigerian citizen with valid identification.

Age Range

Between 16 and 25 years at the time of application.

Academic Record

Minimum of 5 A-level credits (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics, obtained in a single sitting.

Character

Demonstrated integrity, community leadership, and commitment to national development.

Discipline Fit

Strong interest and aptitude in at least one of the four strategic focus areas.

Scholar Onboarding

Required Documents

All documents must be uploaded digitally through the online portal. Physical submissions are not accepted.

Statement of Purpose

500–800 word essay on your vision for national impact.

Academic Transcripts

Certified copies of all academic results from secondary school.

Two Reference Letters

From a teacher and a community/civic leader (not family members).

Government-Issued ID

National ID card, birth certificate, or valid passport.

JAMB Result (if applicable)

For applicants targeting undergraduate programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the scholarship coverage?

The scholarship covers full tuition, mandatory university fees, and a monthly stipend for living expenses. In some cases, research grants and laptop allowances are also provided.

Can I apply if I'm currently in university?

Applications are primarily open for prospective undergraduate or masters students. However, exceptional vocational or bridge programme credits may be considered.

Is there an application fee?

No. The National Talent Development Initiative is a non-profit, merit-based programme. There is absolutely no fee required at any stage of the application or selection process.

How are the strategic focus areas determined?

Focus areas are aligned with the national development plan, targeting sectors with high growth potential and critical skill gaps, such as renewable energy and technical governance.
